It is with great sadness that Jabiru Publishing recently learned of the passing of Ken Fairweather. Ken was an Australian who moved to New Guinea (as it was then known) as a young man, and found his niche. Ken was larger than life, and proud to hold varied roles in life as farmer, trucker, politician and larrikin.
His memoir, Farewell White Man, was immensely popular with people in both Papua New Guinea and Australia, and went into five reprints. The book was edited and produced by Wordfix, published by Ken Fairweather, and promoted and distributed by Jabiru Publishing, eventually selling the most books of all our company’s book selection.
Ken Fairweather was a successful entrepreneur and businessman in the fields of farming, minerals exploration and mining, and road transport. He was elected to the Papua New Guinea Parliament, during which time he served as a Minister.
There is a limited number of copies of Ken Fairweather’s book, Farewell White Man, which can be purchased from our Shop. The memoir is a great read, filled with astonishing, humorous and tragic stories about life in Papua New Guinea, and includes many anecdotes about Ken’s full and colourful life.
