David Howard’s book, “Back Country Rivers”, has received an excellent review from the magazine, Australian Campdraft News:
A Note from the Magazine Coordinator
Back Country Rivers is a beautiful little book written by one of ACA’s Roll of Honour inductee’s David Howard.
David has allowed us to share with you one of the poems from the book and to not favour any in particular I have chosen the first poem as all are as captivating as the rest.
Inside the book, David covers some of the big guns of Queensland’s rivers including the Burke River, The Thompson and The Leichhardt. He states in his prelude that “this book is a tribute to those watercourses on which so-called western civilisation struggled, and then flourished, in Queensland’s back country.” David says that the book is also a tribute to certain individuals who lived on those rivers and creeks.
You can purchase this book at Jabiru Publishing and any proceeds after costs go to Queensland Country Women’s Association (QCWA) and the Salvation Army for their emergency relief funds for use in case of drought, flood and other natural disasters.
The ACA office and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Back Country Rivers, and suggest you grab yourself a copy for some light and entertaining reading.
Thank you for sharing the book with us David.
