Exquisite Poetry

Romanian poet, Janina Flueras, explores the meaning of life beyond the material world in this beautifully crafted collection of poems. We live in a world which is very sophisticated, from a material point of view. It seems that everything is within our reach: covering distances in seconds, using the highest technology discovered so far, having lots of money to fulfil almost all our desires. As human beings, we have made all these things possible because we want to be happy. However, if we look carefully, all this searching is undertaken at the horizontal dimension of our existence. Thus, although we may have everything we ever desired, we sometimes realise that we are not actually happy. For that, we need to look beyond all these things.

The artist is a person able to remove the curtain which is hiding from us the real colours of the world and to peep beyond. That’s why the poems are intended to reveal in a metaphorical way the truth and beauty of what is beyond our mundane life. They themselves try to seek the roots of life, and to absorb – in their words – the essence of life, the real joy and fulfilment. 

We try to know the world we live in through science, but we discover that the world is not an equation to solve; it’s a metaphor to interpret. That’s why reading poetry or any approach to art in general is the best practice to understand life.
