Don’t Tell Me I Can’t! Overcoming Cerebral Palsy

The title of Maria Dalmon’s book, “Don’t Tell Me I Can’t”, sums up her attitude to life. Although she was born with cerebral palsy, Maria has never let her disability get in the way of her enjoyment of life.

Maria describes her schooling and treatment at the then Spastic Centre in New South Wales, joining the Girl Guides and winning  a Queen’s Guide award, and working in an RSL Club in administrative and desk top publishing roles.

Her husband also has cerebral palsy. They have had a very interesting life, doing all sorts of adventurous things such as sailing, climbing to the top of Mt Kosciusko, travelling in Australia and overseas, and finding clever ways of dealing with their disabilities. Maria Dalmon demonstrates how determination and courage have allowed her to live a normal, happy and fulfilling life.

This book is a celebration of Maria’s life. Join her in her journey through life and be inspired by her many achievements. Laugh as Maria tells the funny side of living with a disability, come with her as she tells of her sailing adventures, and be taken around the world on her travels. Maria hopes her book will make you aware that people with disabilities are just like you, with the same hopes and dreams.
