New Book by Susan Alley

Jabiru Publishing is very pleased to announce the release of “Cheerio, Don”, by Susan Alley. This heart-warming family story is based on the experiences of the author’s uncle, Don Mitchell, who served in the Militia in New Guinea in World War II. It provides fascinating, personal glimpses into family life in rural New South Wales, as well as highly accurate accounts of Australia’s role in New Guinea during the war. Susan Alley wrote the book from Don’s diaries and letters home to his family. Susan has woven this original material into an easy-to-read, interesting account of Australian life during this important time in the country’s history. The book is available from the Shop.

I have read Susan`s new book. I just couldn`t put it down and read it all in one session. It is a wonderful piece of writing on a subject close to many Australian`s hearts. Having known both Don and Isabel Mitchell, I found it enthralling to read of their adventures in such challenging times of World War II. It is a great read for young and old alike. Congratulations to the author for bringing this era to life with such vibrancy.
